We are proud to announce that our President and inspirational leader, Pat Conway, has achieved the coveted status of "Birkie Warrior Gold". Pat was one of only 13 men to finish three Birkebeiner Warrior Series events at the gold level this year including the Birkie Tour, Birkebeiner 50K Skate, and the Birkie Marathon. Congratulations Pat on an outstanding achievement. Past News December 2011 Through a generous donation by local Sons of Norway Vonnelag 513 , Blue Mound Nordic was able to purchase 25 sets of ski equipment for our youth ski programs. We are thrilled to have our new equipment and can't wait to get it out to our skiers. Blue Mound Nordic Ski Club extends its sincere gratitude to our local Sons of Norway for their outstanding contribution and support. January 2012 Our President Pat Conway gave a fun and informational seminar on Cross Country Skiing at Land's End in Dodgeville. Thank you Pat for your time and dedication. Eleven members of Blue Mound Nordic participated in the 3rd annual SISU Race in Ironwood, MI. It was a fun-filled weekend and a great showing by our skiers. We had 3 top 3 finishers for the 21K race. Eight members participated in the 3rd annual BIRKIE TOUR in Hayward, WI. Bitter cold temperatures of -18F delayed the start, but despite the cold it was a fantastic day of skiing 25K of the Birkie Trails.

February 2012 Due to the lack of snow our Free Lesson Day and Ski Clinic for the Mt. Horeb Winter Festival on Saturday February 4th was cancelled. We held a fun potluck dinner on Tues Feb 4th and shared ski stories, club news and watched a slide show review of how far we have come in less than a year! Blue Mound Nordic Ski Club currently has 67 members! As a warm up for the Wisconsin State Championship, several of our High School and Middle School skiers traveled to Nine Mile in Wausau to race in the Badger State Games as part of the Lodi/Blue Mound Ski Team. On Feb 11th, seven of our High School and Middle school skiers raced with the Lodi/Blue Mound Team in the Wisconsin Nordic State Championships at Minocqua Winter Park. The boys team finished 1oth. Well done skiers! |
